Scope of Application
WPM Series Full-automatic Computer Wire Stripping Machine made by our factory is suitable for cutting, head-stripping, tail-stripping, and middle-stripping of the single–strand, multi-strand, and sheath wire. The maximum processing cross-sectional area is 0.1-8mm 2; the maximum cutting length is 100m, head-stripping 200mm, and tail-stripping100mm. WPM-09T is suitable for stripping and twisting super short wires with the shortest wire of 28-30mm; With rollers lifting function when stripping Wire Head, WPM-09T is suitable for stripping sheath wire, especially for sheath wire of long Wire Head and Wire Tail.

Points for Attention of Safe Operation 
First of all, thank you very much for buying our WPM Series Full-automatic Computer Wire Stripping Machine. For safe and correct operation of this machine, please read this operation manual carefully before operation.   
Ⅰ. Power Adapter: AC 220–250V, 50–60HZ. To provide a stable operating voltage, the user should select and use a power voltage stabilizer to prevent this machine from being burned out caused by over-voltage.   
Ⅱ. On operation, this machine should be placed on a smooth and stable surface to prevent this machine from falling and being damaged. 
Ⅲ. Don’t use this machine near an area with a stronger electromagnetic field to prevent this machine from being interfered with.   
Ⅳ. On operation don’t place any objects on this machine, don’t place this machine near corrosive chemicals, and be sure to keep the operating environment dry, well-ventilated, and dustless, with operating room temperature: 0–35℃. 
Ⅴ. On operation if bad effects of wire stripping or some faults appear, please read this operation manual for faults and clearances, if you still cannot solve the problems, please call our technical service telephone to realize the method of maintenance and repair. For your safety, please don’t disassemble this machine by yourself for maintenance and repair.

Ⅰ. Main Structure of Wire Stripping Machine

(Table1-1)

Note: You need to add oils to the oiling hole at the top of the knife rack regularly to keep it well-lubricated.
(See Table 1-1)Explanation of the main structure:
(1)Straitening Wire feeder: Wire correcting device, ensure smoothness of the wire in the vertical direction.
(2)Pressure Separation Switch of the Wire-inlet and Wire-outlet Rollers: Turn clockwise, lift the wire-inlet and outlet Rollers; turn counterclockwise, and descend the wire-inlet and outlet Rollers.
(3)Wire-inlet Gap Adjusting Rollers: Turn it up to increase the gap and turn it down to decrease the gap.  
(4)Knife Rack Assembly: For wire cutting: head stripping and tail stripping.
(5)Wire-inlet: Wire is put into the machine through the inlet.
(6)Wire-inlet Rollers: Assist the knife rack to perform wire head stripping when it moves forward or back forward the wire.
(7)Conduit: When performing tail stripping, lift the conduit to create a level gap between the processing wire and the cutting point to strip the tail covering.
(8)Wire-outlet Gap Adjusting Rollers: Turn it up to increase the gap and turn it down to decrease the gap.  
(9)Wire Detection Indicator Light: When the wire stripping function is on if there is no wire in the machine the light will be on. Normally, the light is off.
(10)(Twisting outlet Rollers)Wire-outlet Rollers: Assist the knife rack to perform wire tail stripping, wire twisting, and wire output.
(11)Twisting Function Part: When the twisting function is on, it drives the movement of the wire-outlet rollers to perform wire twisting.
(12)Liquid Crystal Displayer( LCD): Display wire stripping related parameter.
(13)Key: Input parameter, start and stop the machine.
(14)Power Switch: The main switch for the electric parts of the equipment including the power for the control system and step driver. Don’t keep your fingers close to the knife unless the power is off.

Ⅱ. Operating Principle of Mechanical Parts 

1. WPM-09T Computerized Wire-stripping Machine Operating Principle
The wire is conveyed by the wire-inlet rollers and the wire-outlet rollers, and the wire cutting and stripping are performed by the knife rack assembly.
2. Introduction to Main Function of WPM-09T:
Wire-inlet Rollers: for conveying wires and stripping wire heads. 

Wire-outlet Rollers: for conveying wires and stripping wire tails.

Wire-outlet Gap Adjusting Rollers: Turn it up to increase the gap and turn it down to decrease the gap.

Pressure Adjustment Switch of the Wire-inlet Rollers: After pulling out, turn it counterclockwise to increase the wire-inlet roller pressure against the wire and turn it clockwise to increase the wire-inlet pressure
Wire-inlet up Switch: turn counterclockwise to move up the wire-inlet rollers to feed in the wire; turn clockwise to move down the wire-inlet rollers to press the wire for working.

Pressure Adjustment Switch of the Wire-outlet Rollers: After pulling out, turn it counterclockwise to increase the wire-outlet roller pressure against the wire and turn it clockwise to decrease the wire-outlet pressure
Wire-outlet up Switch: turn clockwise to move up the wire-outlet rollers to take out the wire; turn counterclockwise to move down the wire-outlet rollers for working.
Knife Rack Assembly: Wire cutting, head stripping, and tail stripping. When the machine is off, the up and down knife blades must be kept at the max distance to let the wire go through successfully.
3. Key Points for Operating WPM-09T
Wire-inlet: The wire is put into the wire-inlet. Press the “Input” and “Output” keys to achieve the automatic function for the wire inlet and outlet respectively;

Wire-inlet Roller Pressure Adjustment: adjust the “Pressure Separation Switch of the Wire-inlet Rollers” to a suitable position to make the wire-inlet rollers press the wire tightly;

Wire-inlet Gap Adjusting: adjust the gap between the two rollers through the “Wire-inlet Gap Adjusting Rollers” to a suitable position;

Wire-outlet Roller Pressure Adjustment: adjust the “Pressure Separation Switch of the Wire-outlet Rollers” to a suitable position to make the wire-outlet rollers press the wire tightly
 Wire-outlet Gap Adjusting: adjust the gap between the two rollers through the “Wire-outlet Gap Adjusting Rollers” to a suitable position after placing the wire tightly between the two rollers.
4. Key Points in Machine Adjustment
 Before you start the machine, please pay attention to the following technical points:
(1)Adjust the position of the conduit to see if the inlet, inlet rollers, conduit, and outlet rollers stay in the same line when the wire goes through them.
(2)Check the gap between the two rollers of both the wire-inlet rollers and wire-outlet rollers as the gaps must be smaller than the diameter of the wire covering to be stripped.
(3)Put the wire into the wire-inlet rollers; Turn the “wire-inlet up switch” to make the rollers press tightly against the wire. If the wire can not be pulled out by pulling accordingly, it indicates that the gap and pressure of the rollers are suitable. 
(4)Put the wire into the wire-outlet rollers; Turn the “wire-outlet up switch” to make the rollers press tightly against the wire. If the wire can not be pulled out by pulling accordingly, it indicates that the gap and pressure of the rollers are suitable. 
Ⅲ. Man-Machine Interface Key Explanation
【Man-Machine Interface Overview】
The man-machine interface display partly uses 240×128 blue graphics LCD as shown by Table 2-2 with a clear vision; The keyboard uses 36 mechanical keys as shown by Table3-3 with higher reliability than membrane keys.

The keyboard key setup is user-friendly as it places 10 number keys, 4 cursors, and [CLR] key together which is easy to set and change parameters; E.STOP is placed at the bottom of the right side, taking full consideration of users’ operation habits.
【Key Explanation】
【0】~【9】: Number keys: set 0-9 for parameter set-up.
【.】 Decimal point key: Press when you need to put into digit with decimal.
【+】and【-】:Press 【+】 for plus parameter and 【-】minus parameter; For switching parameter set up,  press【+】for open and 【-】 close.
【    】Cursor right shift key: The cursor will move 1 spot to the right with each press pointing to the right-side parameter.
【   】Cursor left shift key: The cursor will move 1 spot to the left with each press pointing to the left-side parameter.
【   】Cursor up shift key: The cursor will move 1 spot up with each press pointing to the upside parameter.

【    】Cursor down shift key: The cursor will move 1 spot down with each press pointing to the downside parameter.
【CLR】CLR key: Delete numbers for parameter set-up.
【MENU】MENU key: Press MENU to go back to the main menu page for 6 parameter set-up options.
【ENTER】Enter key: Press to save or assist parameter set-up.
【    】and【   】 Press to enter the correspondent parameter set-up page.
【CHINESE/ENGLISH】Press to shift between Chinese and English.
【RESET】Press to reset all parameters and the switch parameter will be in close.
【ZERO】Press ZERO on the operation page and all count values will be reset to 0.
【HELP】Please press HELP if you have any problem during the operation.
【AUTO-DIA】Press to calculate the wire diameter automatically as the preservation function of the machine.
【INLET】Press to feed wire to the machine on the operation page if you want to operate it manually.
【OUTLET】 Press to take out the wire from the machine on the operation page if you want to operate it manually.
【CUT】Press to cut off the wire and press again to open the blades on the operation page; Keep pressing if you want to repeat cutting.
【START】Press to start the machine on the operation page.
【STOP】Press STOP and the machine will stop working after completing the ongoing order.
【E.STOP】Pre E.STOP to stop the machine immediately.
【F1】~【F2】Special function keys, press 【F5】to go to operation page as shown by Table2-2.

Ⅳ. Adjustment of Knife Edge Position
1. Turn off the machine.
2. Adjust the knife edge of WPM-09T: Turn the drive shaft of the knife rack to leave the distance of the 2 knife edges about 1 mm. (See Table A)   
  
Adjust the knife edge of WPM-09T: Turn the drive shaft of the knife rack to leave the distance of the 2 knife edges about 6-8mm. (See Table B)

3. Loosen the fixing screw on the drive shaft, turn the fan-shaped iron sheet to make the top point of the fan-shaped iron sheet in the middle of the photoelectric sensing groove, then tighten the fixing screw. (See Table C) 

4. Turn on the machine. After this operation, the values of the diameters of the wire core in the program have changed, please adjust them again!

  Wire stripping parameters include basic wire processing parameters: Wire Head and Tail, Diameter of Wire Core, Knife Retreating, Speed, Total, Batch, Qty, Program No., etc; Wire Twisting parameters include Twisting Wire Head and Tail, Wire Head Length, Diameter of Twisting Wire Tail Core, etc. Middle Stripping Parameters include 13 segments’ wire stripping operation; Wire Output Parameters are supportive functions for Wire Stripping which include Wire Output Length, Retreating Distance, and Cutting Depth of Wire tail, etc, Coaxial Wire Cutting includes parameters in stripping Coaxial and Sheath Wire as the normal type of Wire stripping machines do not have this function; Operation Set-up is the intelligent control part function of this machine which includes special functions like Conduit Movement Control, Wire Breakage Check, Timing to start automatically and Rollers-lifting.

On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the wire stripping parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【1】directly to the wire stripping parameter set-up page as shown in Table5-5.

Total: The total quantity for production.
 Batch: the machine will automatically stop the machine when the quantity reaches batch qty. The machine will start automatically according to the “TIMING” setup.
Counted: The machine will stop working automatically once the counted qty equals the total qty.
Wire qty: The qty of the wires being processed at one time, please key 1 for 1 wire processing and 2 for 2 wires’ processing.
Program No.: Each program is saved up for each corresponding size wire processing. If you need to use any program for the same process, please key in the program No. first and press
【ENTER】.
Wire Length: the total length of the wire to be stripped including the length of the wire head, and the length of the wire tail.  

Wire Head: the length of the first segment of the wire to be stripped. If the wire head does not need to be stripped, please key in 0. 

Head Stripping: The length of the first segment of the wire to be stripped, if the head stripping is ≥ the wire head, it indicates full-stripping, but if the head stripping<the wire head, it indicates half-stripping. The stripped wire sheath must cover the wire head to prevent the wire cores from messing up during every working procedure. 
Diameter of Wire Core: the depth of the cutting, the bigger the value is, the deeper the knife cut through the wire covering. During the operation of the machine, if the wire head can’t be stripped, you should increase the value; if a few copper wires or even the wire head or tail is cut off, you should decrease the value.
Knife Retreating: This function allows the knife to retreat to a certain position after cutting the wire covering to a certain depth, which enables the knife to stick to the covering and strip it away later. The reference parameter is “1” which means to retreat “0.06mm” after cutting to the wire core for both up and down knife edge please calculate the value based on 1 VS 0.06mm proportion. The knife retreating value stays in proportion to the thickness of the wire covering. If the value is too big, it won’t be able to strip away the covering; if the value is too small, it may impair the cooper core or even pull them out.
Wire Speed: The wire speed is driven by the speed of the wire input and output machine; 9 is the fastest while 0 is the slowest.
Cutting speed: The speed of up and down movement of the knife rack assembly is driven by the cutting electric machine; 9 is the fastest while 0 is the slowest.
Twisting Speed: The speed of twisting rollers, 9 is the fastest while 0 is the slowest.

As shown in Table 5-5, the wire length is 70MM, the wire head 6MM, the head striping 4MM, the wire tail 5MM, and the tail stripping 3MM; the outcome processed wire is shown in Table 6-6.

【2. Wire Twisting Parameters Set-up and Explanation】
On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the Wire Twisting parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【2】 directly to the Wire Twisting parameter set-up page as shown in Table7-7.

Wire Head Twisting: The switch for the wire head twisting function, set by 【+】and【-】.
Wire Tail Twisting: The switch for wire tail twisting is set by 【+】and【-】.
Wire Twisting Direction: clockwise or counterclockwise set by 【+】and【-】.
Mode: One-way or Two-way twisting set by 【+】and【-】.
Wire Head Length: the distance of the wire head's forward movement. The value of the Wire Head Length is in inverse proportion to the Wire Head Stripping. The bigger the Wire Head stripping is, the smaller the value of the Wire Head Length is.
Wire Twisting Distance: The distance of Wire Twisting Rollers' movement when twisting. The reference value is 50~230; The bigger the value is, the tighter the wire will be twisted. If the value is too big, the wire may be twisted. (Twisted wire may also be caused by wire out-let gap adjustment.)
Diameter of Twisting Wire Tail Core: the reference Wire Core of the Twisting Wire Tail value is  10~15 smaller than the Stripping Diameter of the Wire Core. If the Diameter of the Twisting Wire Tail is too small, it may not be able to twist the end of the wire tail; if the value is too big, the covering may remain on the wire tail.
Note: If the set wire head or wire tail is in full stripping, the wire twisting function can’t be used. The wire twisting function can only be used when performing middle stripping with wire head and wire tail value smaller than the corresponding head stripping and tail stripping value.
【3.Middle Stripping Parameters Set-up and Explanation】
On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the Middle Stripping parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【3】 directly to the Middle Stripping set-up page as shown by Table 8-8.

Middle Stripping: Cut marks or strips in the middle wire. Middle Stripping 1 is the location to be stripped or cut marks with the set distance from the Wire Head; Middle Stripping Length 1 is the wire stripping length in Middle Stripping 1. Middle Stripping 2, Middle Stripping Length 2, Middle Stripping 3, and Middle Stripping Length 3 are all set identically with Middle Stripping 1 and Middle Stripping 1 with the cut or stripping location distance all set from the wire head. You may set Middle Stripping 4, and 5…. accordingly.  If you don’t need middle stripping, please set all twisting parameters to 0. We can also customize a special Middle stripping function if requested.
【4. Wire Out-put Parameters Set-up and Explanation】
On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the wire twisting parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【4】 directly to the wire output parameter set-up page as shown by Table 9-9.

Wire Output Distance: The distance of wire flying out from the Wire Out-let Rollers. The bigger the value is, the further the wire flies off from the rollers.
Middle Stripping Twisting Wire Head: If the covering still sticks to the wire core after twisting, you can increase the value of the Middle Stripping Twisted Wire Head to strip away the covering.
Retreating Distance: The retreating distance of Wire In-let Rollers before cutting off the wire and strip wire tail.
Middle Stripping Wire Output: the movement distance of Wire Out-let Rollers during stripping with the Middle Stripping function on.
Cutting Depth of Wire tail: Adjust Cutting Depth of Wire Tail to stay by Wire Head Cutting depth.
【5.Coaxial Wire Parameter Parameters Set-up and Explanation】
On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the Coaxial Wire parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【5】 directly to the Coaxial Wire parameter set-up page as shown in Table 10-10 and 10-11.
WPM-09T Wire stripping machine excels in its function of Coaxial and two-layer flat Sheath Wire Stripping compared to other types of Wire stripping machines. The same as a normal Wire Stripping Machine, WPM-09T has parameters like Qty and Wire Length, but since it can cut 3 layer’s wire, it also has 3 types of parameters for Wire Head, Wire Tail, Diameter of Cutting Length and Knife Retreating. If it only cuts 2-layer, it’s unnecessary to input the inside layer parameters.

Note: The following conditions must be satisfied to ensure the normal operation of the Coaxial Wire and Sheath Wire Stripping function.

【2. Function Set-up and Explanation】
On Parameters Set-up Main Menu as Table4-4, shift the cursor to the Function Set-up parameter key and press 【ENTER】or【6】 directly to the Function Set-up page as shown by Table 11-12

Conduit: Control the up and down movement of the Conduit while stripping the wire tail. Press 【+】and【-】to turn them on and off the function. If the Wire Tail is too long, please make sure the function is on.
Wire Breakage: Stop the machine when there is no wire available to be stripped or the wire is knotted. Press 【+】and【-】to turn them on and off the function.
Blowing: Blow the wire covering to ensure no covering is stuck to the knife. It must be connected to an air compressor for function.
Wire Stripping: The pulling force of the electrical machine to strip wires. Press【+】and【-】to adjust. It is recommended to adjust to Strong.
Roller Lifting: Lift the Wire Rollers during wire stripping. It must be connected to an air compressor for function.
Row Wire Separating: Signal for wire arrangement and separation.
Timing: When Counted qty meet the Batch qty, you may set up 【TIMING】 to restart the machine automatically.
Direction: Press 【+】and【-】to control the direction which corresponds to the above-mentioned Wire Stripping. If Wire Stripping is in a Strong state, the Direction is forward which means the Wire Stripping is strong in the forward direction.
Cutting: It may need to be cut several times when stripping thick wires. Set the Cutting until the wire is cut off.
Operation
When the parameters set-up is finished, please press【F5】to enter Operation Page as shown in Table2-2. Check the parameters to see if they are correct; if the Counted is not 0, please press 【ZERO】to return to 0. Press 【START】to start the machine: If the parameters are correct, the machine will start operation automatically; if not, the machine will perform a self-check and won’t start with fault causes diagnosis.


Ⅵ. Maintenance and FAQ

1. Maintenance during Operation
  1.) Use a stable electric power source and ensure the machine is ground connected so to protect people from the harm of electricity leakage. If the power source is not stable, please use a regulator to make sure the machine is functioning well. 
 2.) During working, keep children or any other people except the operator away from the machine to avoid any harm.
 3.) Keep the stepping motor of the machine lubricated regularly and add freeze-proof machine oil when the temperature is low. There are 2 oil holes on the outer cover of the knife rack. 
4.) The operating environment must be clean, dust-free, and corrosion chemicals-free without interruption of strong electromagnetic. The machine should be operated in a room with good ventilation with neither too high nor too low a temperature.
2. Faults and Clearances

The length of wire heads slopes after stripping.
◇Adjust the conduit rack or change the smaller size conduits to make the wire parallel with the knife through the conduit.
◇The gap between the conduit and knife edge is over far, adjust the gap closer.
The length of wire tails slopes after stripping. ◇Check the cutting of wire heads and increase the Diameter of the Wire Core if the cutting is not deep enough.
The wire head can’t be stripped off.  
Check the cutting depth of the wire head, if it is not deep enough, you need to increase the cutting depth value;
The gap between the wire-inlet rollers is too big, adjust the gap to smaller;
The wire-inlet rollers pressure is not enough, adjust the pressure to bigger.
The set length value of head stripping is too small; adjust the length value to bigger.
The wire tail can’t be stripped off. Check the cutting depth of the wire tail, if it is not deep enough, you need to increase the cutting depth value;
The gap between the wire-outlet rollers is too big, adjust the gap to smaller;
The wire-outlet rollers pressure is not enough, adjust the pressure to bigger;
The set length value of tail stripping is too small; adjust the length value to bigger.
The embossing of the wire is over deep.  
◇Check to see if it is caused by Out-let Rollers or In-let Rollers. If it is caused by Out-let Rollers, loosen it, and the same with In-let Rollers.
Several copper wires are cut off while stripping the wire head or tail. It is caused by too big a value of the Diameter of the Wire Core. Adjust to decrease the value until it won’t cut to the copper core.
The wire head or wire tail is cut off. There is wire covering or dirt on the knife edge, which needs to be cleared away.
The knife rack drive belt is too loose, which needs to be tightened.
Partial copper wires of the wire tail are a little bit longer. The Diameter of the Wire Core is too big causing the knife edge to cut into the wire core which is brought out after stripping. Please decrease the value of the diameter of the wire core.
The value of Knife Retreating is too small which needs to be increased.
The actual length doesn’t conform to the Wire Length.
The actual length of the wire is ≥ the set-up Wire Length The wire in-let rollers do not press the wire tightly enough, which causes the actual wire length longer than the set-up.
There is dirt in the roller's transmission gear, which needs to be cleared away. Adjust the pulse equivalent.

Faults Clearances
The actual length doesn’t conform to the Wire Length.
The actual length of wire is < the set-up Wire Length There is dirt in the rollers transmission gear, which needs to be cleared away.
The wire-inlet and wire-outlet conveying rollers slip because there is wax on the wire surface. Please brush away the wax and clean four rollers with gasoline or lacquer thinner.
No shear mark on the wire head and the wire tail/wire head or wire tail is cut off If the wire head or wire tail is cut off, the wire length or the actual length must be < the length of the wire head.
If there is no shear mark on the wire head and the wire tail and the wire length plus the actual length equals the set-up wire length, the diameter of the wire core must be too small. Please adjust the value of the Diameter of the Wire Core to bigger.
The wires are knotted and can’t be cut off. Add lubrication oils into the knife rack oil hole and add oils every 8 hours of operation.
Adjust the speed to slow.
The knife may be blunt. Remove the knife and sharpen the knife with 1-2 mm on a flat sharpener or with oilstone, or change the knife.
When twisting, the wire head has not been twisted or twisted without a good finish. The Twisting Wire Head Length Parameter is not adjusted to the optimum value. Please adjust accordingly.
Press【START】 and the knife rack stops working after one movement and the wire does not move at all. Wrong parameters input, please reset.
Qty parameter is 0, please set it up.
Counted parameter reaches to Total parameter, please set the Counted to 0.
Press【START】, if there is any problem, the machine will perform self-diagnosis automatically. Please operate according to the machine diagnosis suggestion.


Attachment Explanation

This machine adopts paper box foam packing; the user should take out and count the packing bags for attached parts after unpacking the paper box, then place the machine on a smooth worktable and prepare a qualified power socket.
